Prague is one of 397 cities worldwide that is participating in PechaKucha, a night of fast-paced design presentations mixed with lots of beer. Presenters include a wide range of creative professionals, from architects to fashion magazine editors and designers. PechaKucha Night (PKN) began in Tokyo in 2003, and has since morphed into a global happening.
The name is derived from the Japanese term for the sound of chit chat, and it is famous for featuring presentations in a "20×20" format, meaning each of a dozen or so designers shows 20 images for 20 seconds a piece. This year the event will be hosted in three cities in the Czech Republic: Prague, Ostrava, and Brno. The first PKN in Prague was held Feb. 20, 2007, and featured 14 presenters. Since that time Prague has held the event every other month at Kino Aero in the Zizkov district. The events always sell out weeks in advance.
